Board Meetings
The Meade County Conservation District Board of Supervisors meetings are normally held on the fourth Monday of each month. The meetings are held at 8:00 a.m. at the District Office, 1194-B Old Ekron Road, Brandenburg, KY. All meetings are open to the public.
Technical Assistance
We provide technical advice on a variety of natural resource issues for Meade County landowners. We assist in the areas of conservation and enhancement of the natural resources, such as soil, water, air, plants, and animals, through the use of Best Management Practices. We can also assist you in having a Conservation Plan for your farm and to ensure that you have a Ag Water Quality plan in place with your farm. We work with the USDA-NRCS by offering programs and technical support that can assist your conservation needs.
Dead Animal Removal
The Meade County Conservation District in cooperation with the Meade County Fiscal Court, the Agriculture Development Board, and the KY Division of Conservation sponsor this service.
We have a contract with Harmon Dead Animal Pick-Up out of Warsaw, KY. Provided hereby agrees to pick up dead livestock within the territorial boundaries of the County.
Livestock shall include but not be limited to cattle, horses, hogs, ostrich, llamas, goats and sheep. Provider will also pick up deer or small animals, if located at an agreed upon location. No skunks!
This agreement shall not apply to any commercial facility (including, but not limited to, veterinary clinics, slaughter houses, or stock yards). Pickup and disposal of dead livestock from such facilities shall be done only by separate agreement between provider and such facilities.
Provider will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday (except for all holidays recognized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and/or the United States Government).
Provider will pick up said dead livestock within 48 hours of notice, exclusive of weekends and holidays. Provider will use its best efforts to pick up said animal the same day as it receives notice of the pick up. However, such can not be guaranteed due to distances and other demands upon the services of the Provider.
Provider will pick up dead livestock at the location of the carcass provided:
The location must be accessible by public roadway.

The carcass must be located by public roadway.

The carcass must be on a hard surface (i.e., gravel, concrete, or asphalt).

Provider shall have no obligation to climb fences, open gates or traverse grass or dirt paths.

Provider shall have no obligation to enter onto enclosed area where live animals are present.

The person or persons desiring the removal of said dead livestock shall be responsible for moving said carcass to such a location as described above.

Local Cost-Share Programs
The Meade County Conservation District provides the Forage Improvement Cost Share Program at a rate of 50% up to $750. We also provide equipment loans for various pieces of farm equipment.
Ag Water Quality Plans
The Agriculture Water Quality Act requires all landowners with ten or more acres that is being used for agriculture or silvicultural operations to develop and implement a water quality plan based upon guidance from the Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Plan. It is the sole responsibility of each of these landowners to develop and implement a water quality plan for their individual operations. Meade County Farm Field Day & Farm Tour
The Meade County Conservation District co-sponsors the Meade County Farm Field Day with Meade County Extension Office. The field day highlights a farm that has used cost-share funds in a unique setting, as well as provide education to others. This year the Field Day will be a combined effort between Edd Pike and John Pike. The Field Day will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The farm is located in Andyville on the left right before you reach the Stull Country Store. Leadership for organizing the farm field day is shared with Meade County's Extension Office, and Natural Resources Conservation Service. There will be Demonstrations and Exhibits, Cattle Facilities, Soybean Fungicides, On Farm Beef Marketing, Sweet Corn Varieties, Conservation Program Highlight and more.
Soil Testing
We do not do the Soil Testing for pH, lime and fertilizer requirements for crops and/or lawn grasses. Contact the University of Kentucky Agricultural Extension Service at (270) 422-4958 for assistance.
