The
Meade County Conservation District Board of Supervisors meetings
are normally held on the fourth Monday of each month. The
meetings are held at 8:00 a.m. at the District Office, 1194-B
Old Ekron Road, Brandenburg, KY. All meetings are open
to the public.
Technical Assistance
We provide technical advice on a variety
of natural resource issues for Meade County landowners. We
assist in the areas of conservation and enhancement of the
natural resources, such as soil, water, air, plants, and
animals, through the use of Best Management Practices. We can
also assist you in having a Conservation Plan for your farm and
to ensure that you have a Ag Water Quality plan in place with
your farm. We work with the USDA-NRCS by offering programs and
technical support that can assist your conservation needs.
Dead Animal Removal
The Meade County Conservation District
in cooperation with the Meade County Fiscal Court and the KY
Department of Agriculture sponsor this service.
Animals to be
picked up include horses, cattle, hogs, ostrich, llamas and
goats. Neither sheep nor chickens will be accepted.
This does not include commercial facilities such as vet clinics
or stockyards.
*Due to Global
concerns with animal born illnesses and recent restrictions
placed on rendering facilities nationally, Nation Brothers, Inc.
can no longer accept deer or goats for the rendering process.
Rather than not provide pickup for goats or deer, Nation
Brothers, Inc. would like to provide another option for the
county government and farmers to remove these selected animals.
Nation Brothers, Inc. is prepared and permitted by the
Veterinarians's Office to compost the deer and goats.
Nation Brothers, Inc. will continue to provide service on all
other agricultural animals as we have in the past.
The price of the extra handling and
composting materials will require a charge of twenty two dollars
and fifty cents ($22.50) per deer or goat to be added to the
monthly charge as composting fees, as of March 1, 2007. If
there are any questions call Gabe Nation at (502) 834-7875.
Nation Brothers,
Inc.
from Shelbyville is doing the pickup.
They will not
go through unopened gates or remove animals from areas where
live animals are contained. The animals must be placed on
a hard surface, such as gravel or blacktop, near the front of
the property.
There will be a
$75 farm visit. Fiscal Court will cover $50 of the cost
and the landowner will pay $25 to have their animal removed.
The Meade County Conservation District will bill each landowner
for services monthly.

The Meade County Conservation District
provides the Forage Improvement Cost Share Program at a rate of
50% up to $750. We also provide equipment loans for various
pieces of farm equipment.
Ag Water Quality Plans
The Agriculture Water
Quality Act requires all landowners with ten or more acres that
is being used for agriculture or silvicultural operations to
develop and implement a water quality plan based upon guidance
from the Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Plan. It is the sole
responsibility of each of these landowners to develop and
implement a water quality plan for their individual operations.
The Meade County Conservation District provides assistance in
obtaining an agriculture water quality plan. Click
here for more information on the plans and how to receive a
plan.
